| The combination of shakuhachi and koto has been heard for many centuries and the beauty of this flute/harp combination has recently captivated the attention of non-Japanese composers as well. Duo No. 3 for Shakuhachi and 20-string Koto is my third work for traditional Japanese instruments. The rhapsodic nature of the piece allows for sections where more traditional sounds are heard followed by rhythmic sections where Western tonality prevails. |
