Naruse Ryōdō

Born in Tokyo in 1895, Naruse Ryōdō studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi (and shakuhachi making) with his father. Later he studied with both Miura Kindō and Araki Kodō III (who gave him further instruction in properly tuning shakuhachi). He was known as both a master classical shakuhachi player/teacher and an expert shakuhachi craftsman.
