Born on November 22, 1925 in Yamanashi Prefecture, Horiuchi Keidō (Horiuchi Kunio) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Nōtomi Judō, Yokoyama Katsuya, and Ikeda Itsuren. He started teaching in 1960. He belonged to Judō-kai and was the head of the Chikuyū-kai.
