Muraji Kōdō (Muraji Takashi) was born November 7, 1929 in Osaka. He studied Muraji-ryū shakuhachi under his father, Muraji Kyodō, as his second son, and from whom he received his Shihan (masters license). He was a member of the Muraji-ryū Shakuhachi-kai and Chiyomi-kai.
