Yamato Shūō (Yamato Naonori) was born September 5, 1938 in Kitakyushu City. He was the beginning of the Shūdō lineage in Kinko-ryū. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ibe Kadō and Araki Kodō III. He began his 40+ years of teaching in 1930. He was the head of the Kanaki club.
