Laonikos is a shakuhachi player, teacher, and maker based in London, UK. Born in Athens, Greece, he studied composition in London with Paul Newland and graduated from Sibelius Academy with a Masters in Global Music, studying under Nathan Riki Thomson and Outi Pulkkinen. He has been studying with Clive Bell since 2015 and was a Making Tracks fellow in 2022. He was awarded a DYCP Grant by Arts Council England to deepen his shakuhachi practice in 2022. He released his album "loess" in October 2022 under the Dutch label Slow Tone Records which features improvisations on shakuhachi and live electronics in outdoor locations in east London. https://slowtonecollages.bandcamp.com/album/loess
