I am extremely thankful for having had the great honour and the incredible pleasure of being a student of the Ronnie NYOGETSU REISHIN Seldin. I still miss him deeply... and I am sorry that I was not able to fulfil all of his hopes and expectations he had placed in me...: "Mike Mueller is something of a rarity. Of the 30 years that I have been teaching (and the hundreds of students who have learned Shakuhachi the same way), there are only one or two others who have risen to the levels of artistry that Mike has. Although Mike has not had the opportunity to have many personal lessons with me in New York and in Japan, he has miraculously captured the aesthetic and emotions of Japan. To say that he has come further then any student I have ever had in Europe is of course true, but I believe only a beginning for Mike. I have great hopes that he will be able to spread the Shakuhachi throughout Germany, and perhaps the entire Hemisphere!"
