Satō Reidō (Satō Seihachirō) was born December 9, 1923 in Nagasaki City. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Kiyota Shōdō, Yamaue Getsuzan, and Shimokawa Ryūdō. He started teaching in 1960. He presided over the Nagasaki Chikuyu-kai.
