Sasaki Kojirō (Sasaki Hisayoshi) was born November 15, 1917 in Miyagi Prefecture. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ishiyama Shōzō, Tanifuji Kōji, and Aoki Reibo I. He started teaching in 1935. He was the president of the Japan Music Research Association. His career spanned more than 50 years.
