Born February 19, 1943 in Yamanashi Prefecture, Tamura Itsuten (Tamura Noriyoshi) studied Itsudō-ha Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ikeda Itsuren. He started teaching in 1970. He was a member of the Shakuhachi Itsuren-kai.
