Born December 5th, 1924 in Fukuoka Prefecture, Tomokiyo Aitarō studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Hiraki Kodō and Kosone Kurata. He received his Shihan (master teacher) license in 1965. He belonged to Tekisui-kai and Genyū-kai.
