Negishi Kōun (Negishi Kunio) was born January 14, 1929 in Maebashi City. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Takahashi Tenrai. He started teaching in 1966. He was a member of the Maebashi Chikuyu-kai Kereian and was also head of the Onkowaraku-kai.
