Uematsu Itsusei (Uematsu Kazuichi) was born October 16, 1908 in Yamanashi Prefecture. He studied Itsudō-ha Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ikeda Itsuren and began teaching in 1934. In 1960 he was awarded the rank of Dai-Shihan. His career spanned 50 years.
