Yagi Reidō (Yagi Isao) was born on September 7, 1902 in Kumamoto Prefecture. He studied under Ikeno Chikuyu, Yamashita Kōdō, and Torii Komudō. He began teaching in 1946. He was the head of the Wakana-kai Aso branch and belonged to the Satsuki-kai. He was a shakuhachi performer and teacher for more than 50 years.
