After the death of his father, Kawamoto Itsudō, in 1947, and with the destruction of the Itsudō-ha and its school during World War II, Misaki Hirokazu pursued his work at the local (Nagoya) meteorological observatory, leaving Makino Itsuyō as defacto leader of the school in Tokyo. Thanks to the efforts of Makino and others, the Itsudō-ha was revived and, on June 5, 1966, Misaki assumed the title of Kawamoto Itsudō II. With its new Sōke, the school grew, rebuilding its headquarters in Nagoya. By 1971 it had 250 members and seventeen branches in Tokyo, Takayama, Gifu, and other cities throughout Japan.
