Shakuhachi

During the Second World War, Sasaki Sōfū served in Manchuria, where he heard Yoshida Seifū play shakuhachi during a Manchurian tour. Sasaki became obsessed with the shakuhachi and, upon returning to Japan after the war, became Yoshida's student. Sasaki became a teacher himself starting in 1946.
