Hirokado Sadao was born May 14, 1932 in Tokyo and studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under his father Hirokado Reifū and Momose Hōdō. He started teaching in 1955. He was appointed as a Cultural Envoy by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1971. He was vice president of Reifū-kai and a counselor of the Japan Sankyoku Kyōkai.
