Ishikura Kozan

石倉光山

Born on October 14, 1964 in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, (currently lives in Suginami Ward, Tokyo).
October 1975 he received shakuhachi instruction from his father, Oyama Ishikura.
In December 1978 he passed the Tozanryu Shakuhachi Gaku-kai Associate Normal Examination as the youngest person in history at that time.
March 1983 graduated from Kokugakuin High School in Shibuya Ward
April 1983 Enrolled in the Department of Japanese Music, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts .
Completed the master's course in March 1990 , the title of the thesis "About the tone of the shakuhachi"
In October 1990 he was promoted to the Tozanryu Shakuhachi Gaku-kai Daishihan, the youngest in history at that time.
