Andrew MacGregor commenced studies with Riley Lee in 1985 and with Yokoyama Katsuya 1989.
Lived in Japan as uchi deshi with Tajima Tadashi 1993.
Studied with Miyata Kõhachirõ from 2001.

First Australian shakuhachi master.
Finalist in the 2003, 9th Hase Kengyõ Memorial All Japan National Japanese Music Competition.
