Matsumura Senkyō (Matsumura Misao) was born April 26, 1899 in Tokyo. He belonged to Chikuyu-sha and studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Tanitomi Gashi (Ugakyo) and Tsuyama Hōzō (Yoshikawa). He started teaching in 1919. He was a councilor of the Kinko-ryū Association, a permanent director of the Kanagawa Prefecture Sankyoku-kai, a consultant of the Yokohama Sankyoku-kai, and an advisor of the Yayoi-kai.
