Mizushima Kanzan (Mizushima Takeo) was born February 22, 1941 in Okayama Prefecture. He studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Takeda Yūzan and began teaching in 1967. He was a member of the Shizuoka Branch of the Tozan-ryū Shakuhachi Gaku-kai.
