Bruce Jones studied with Mary Lu Brandwein from 1994 to 1997 when she sent him to her teacher Masa Yoshizawa. Bruce studied with Mr. Yoshizawa from 1997 until the latter's death in 2007. He continues to maintain the websites for Mr. Yoshizawa and Yoshizawa's musical group, Kokin Gumi at http://kokingumi.com, in memory of his teacher. After Mr. Yoshizawa's death, Bruce studied with Bill Schultz from 2007 thru 2012. Bruce ran the shakuhachi email list, the first Internet-based "forum" for shakuhachi, from 1997 to 2010, when he passed the torch (and the headaches) to Brian Ritchie and Ken Lacosse.
