After years of study in Kendo and Iaido, Chris began studying Kinko-ryu Shakuhachi with David Kansuke Wheeler Sensei in Boulder, Colorado. Chris was awarded his teaching and Master’s license in 2019 and given the name Kansho. Chris continues to teach and practice in Colorado and is invested in supporting the Shakuhachi Summer Camp of the Rockies. Chris has also studied with Yoko Hiraoka Sensei, Riley Lee Sensei, Yodo Kurahashi Sensei, Christopher Yomei Blasdel Sensei and Kaoru Kakizaki Sensei over the years. Chris also had the distinct pleasure in performing on the stage at the National Theater in Tokyo, Japan.
