Born on July 24, 1890 in Fukuoka prefecture. Was a member of Tokyo Chikuyu-sha. Studied Kinko-ryū repertoire under Matsuo Getsudan. Started teaching in 1919. Studied Myoan repertoire under Shimizu Suizan. Former head of the Kyūshū branch of the Myoan Kyō Kai. Eight decades of shakuhachi experience.
