I am not a Shakuhachi Grand Master or perhaps not even a novice. I always approach the Shakuhachi with a beginner's mind and I have a lot of enthusiasm for playing the Shakuhachi. I don't think of the level or rank at all. It's not important to me. I play for suizen. It is as simple as that. I studied for a brief period under the Koten lineage. Traditional Honkyoku are certainly important. However I believe Honkyoku for our times are equally important and this is my focus.
