Born in St. Paul, Minnesota…At age 21 went to Mexico and lived in Southern Mexico for more than 15 years, where she married and raised three sons. She was actively involved with the peasants in the rural areas where she was instrumental in solving problems, such as the lack of water and basic health issues.

Since her return to the United States she has worked in a variety of positions, ranging from her own import business to research assistant to translator, legal secretary, social worker, and Spanish teacher. She attended San Diego State University as an Art major with studies in the Japanese language (Kyocera Scholarship in 1992) and course work in Western music theory. Currently she continues her study of the shakuhachi, Japanese music, and meditation. She now has a parttime personal assistance business.

Mary Lu aspires to make meaningful contributions to society by integrating her past experiences with her interests in music, art, and Eastern philosophy. Current efforts focus on the Awakening of Peace through presentations for meditation, church, focusing prayer, and listening prayer groups around the country.
