A shakuhachi player with a unique background, Daisuke KAMINAGA has been active mainly in the J-pop scene as a member of the rock band "Wagakki Band," which fuses Japanese instruments and shigin style poem recitation, and the acoustic unit Kafugetsu. One of Wagakki Band's most popular songs, video of "Senbonzakura," has received over 160 million views on YouTube. In the U.S. he embarked on a three-city tour of the west coast, a performance in New York City, and an appearance at SXSW in Texas, where he performed with Amy Lee of the band Evanesence. One of his musical roots, he also loves “game music," and has collaborated with many well-known game music composers, including Nobuo Uematsu, Yasunori Mitsuda, Michiko Naruke, and Hiroki Kikuta. In 2024, he became the representative Executive Officer of Hōgaku Journal Inc. He is currently working to expand Japanese music to new audiences.
