History (from Singer, John)
This piece, composed by the founder of the Tozan school, was used as a theme for poetry parties during the new year season. This piece conveys the winter moon shining on plum blossoms to express the flavor of spring. Part 1 depicts the winter moon. Part 2 expresses the composer's feelings and part 3 is a more musical shakuhachi duet.
