This is a Shinkyoku piece in the Sokyoku style from the Miyagi school . Hokkai Minyo Cho is also known as: Hokkai Minyo no Shirabe. This piece was composed for shakuhachi by Miyagi Michio . This piece was composed for koto by Miyagi Michio in 1954 .

History (from Hartshorne, Robin)
Hokkai Minyo cho was composed after Miyagi made a trip to Hokkaido. It is based on the two songs Soran bushi and Esashi Oiwake. Scored for first koto, second koto, jushichigen, kokyu and shakuhachi.
