Spring
Snow having melted,
The whole village is brimful
Of happy children. Issa

Summer
A cool summer breeze!
Midst a thousand green mountains
A single temple. Shiki
2.1 shakuhachi, bells, bowl shaped gong.
Autumn
The winds that blow
Ask them, which leaf on the tree
Will be next to go. Soseki
1.4 shakuhachi. bamboo wind chime, two mokuhyo (wood blocks).
Winter
Both plains and mountains
Have been captured by the snow
There is nothing left. Joso
2.3 shakuhachi, two Chinese gongs.
