born in East Germany,played cello as a child,studied acrobatic,jazzdance and
clowning with John Melville,London
co-founder of the circus theatre Hundertfleck Munich 1976
Influenced by Jerzey Grotowskie's theatre training,started teaching actors walking the tightrop and so become natural in speaking acting and singing.
I wanted to see theatre,to hear songs,to see dance,but I did not want to see an actor,a singer,a dancer.How to find that " Non action in the action"Not beeing there" I was looking for an artist as a medium ,but grounded.
I heard the a tape of Wadatsumi Do,"It" was playing,just what I was looking for,
an earthen sound ,smell of mud and.like a lotus flower stretch for the sun and become a beautiful flower.
So I sailed fot Japan in 1980 and was told,Wadatsumi Do will not teach me.
In Kyoto Kongo school of No I saw on the stage,what I have heard :Time and space,
a sound and a movement fading and coming back or beeing cut .Not the sound itself was important,but the aftertaste.Natural flow,sound fades away and leaves the space for the drizzle of the rain ,the croak of the frogs and the cry of a new born life.
My breath is your breath and our breath is the breath of the universe.
On the spot I asked the No master (Utaka Michishige of the Kongo No School in Kyoto) to teach me the art of chanting and dancing and he accepted me as his disciple.
So I was trained in No dance,martial arts,Chanting,Mask carving and besides that started the Tozan Shakuhachi with Izu Hiroshi Sensei.
2 important aspects to study japanese traditionnal art.

1) (old japanese proverb) dont look at your teacher.look at what he strives for.
2) To understand time and space in Japanese trd. music you have to train .. yourself and overcome fear of existence."I think so I am" is useless in this . case,I am strong in not beeing aware of myself ,in letting go,beeing breathed
beeing lived,as the Japanese say .That makes an ultimative Shakuhachi player.

In order to achieve this state of mind I have practiced ZaZen at the Myoshinji Temple in Kyoto ,play shakuhachi ,walking up the sacred mountains with the Yamabushi ( mountain ascets),play Shakuhachi on the tightrope,in the ceremonies of tempels an shrines and grow black rice in the mountains in mountains north of Kyoto.
