Nishi Yoko

Koto

Yoko Nishi began her koto studies at the age of 4, and at the age of 12 became a student of Tadao and Kazue Sawai. She graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1986, and since that time has been active in performing traditional and contemporary music throughout the world. In 1994 Nishi and 3 other young players formed the group "Vortex" and released their first CO, "Koto Vortex," to critical acclaim.
