Founder of the Seien Ryű, Kanemoto Seien was born in the first year of the Bunsei 1818 and died in the twenty-eight year of the Meiji, 1895. Seien learned the shakuhachi tradition of the Kinsen-ha, with the last chief priest, Baizan Gyokudo, at the Reitakuzan Fudai-ji in Hanamatsu.
