1  (Listen) Suite Originated from Folk Songs of Tohoku District 14'24 Kitahara Kozan II

This is the original for this record. It is constituted of three movements; the first is after a manner of "Nanbu Ushioi Uta" (a song of pasturage), the second after "Tsugaru-Aiya-Bushi" (a song for dance), and the third after "Tairyo-Utaikomi" (a song for fishing).
2  (Listen) Suite Originated from Folk Songs of the San-In and Tohoku Districts 14'22 Kitahara Kozan II

This is also made up of three movements. The first movement is after a manner of "Kaigara-Bushi" (a boatmen's song for shell-fishing), the second is after "Yamanaka-Bushi" (a feast song at a hot spring place), the third "Sekino-Gohonmatsu" (a song of a port named Mihoga-Sekj).
3  (Listen) Duet Originated from Folk Songs of Hokkaido District 13'05 Kitahara Kozan II

This is a duet of shakuhachi and koto from two folk songs of Hokkaido district (the northern area of Japan). One is "Esashi Oiwake" (a boatmen's song), the other is "Soran-Bushi" (a work song of fishermen).
4  (Listen) Suite Originated from Ryukyu Folk Songs 13'04 Kitahara Kozan II

This is after a manner of folk songs of Japanese southern islands. It is made up of three parts, and three tunes of folk songs called "Asadoya-Yunta" "Tobaruma" and "Tanchame" are taken. The scale and melody peculiar to Ryukyu make this song very different from others.
